Community & Education
Through Safetycatch Productions I regularly create work which benefits at the community level. From providing affordable and reduced rate video services and promotional films for community groups and charity events, to delivering outreach filmmaking and drama workshops for disadvantaged groups.
I have created promotional documentaries for charities, and conferences, as well as creating video and photography packages of highlights for fundraising events.
A great and fun example of a community project was the Workington Christmas Tree Project called “Frames of MIND”. I was commissioned through PANDA (the Performing Arts Network & Development Agency) to create a reusable christmas tree for Workington town hall (in cumbria) for MEP for the North Julie Ward. I incorporated portraits of the staff with a workshop for members of the local MIND community group. See the page for more on that including a time-lapse of us building the tree using 108 picture frames and crates with a battery operated mirror ball to top it off.
I have over thirteen years experience of filmmaking including the regular delivery of educational workshops for mixed groups of teens to adults, primary school classes to corporate groups – for clients including the National Media Museum, Bradford and First Light, Z Arts and Contact Theatre, Manchester.
A couple of examples are available here of the type of thing made within the youth group and animation workshops.
